The work
What the work is like in Brisbane
Most jobs are regular cleans of the same homes every week, fortnight or four weeks, with one-off deep cleans and end of lease cleans in between.
Each job comes with the address, the time, the scope and the payment before you accept it. Regular customers mean you clean the same homes and get to know them; the app keeps the job checklist, the access details and the customer's notes in one place.
Most of the work is home cleaning:
- Standard cleaning: the regular clean of kitchens, bathrooms, floors and living areas.
- Deep cleaning: a longer, more detailed clean, often the first visit or a seasonal clean.
- End of lease cleaning: an empty home cleaned to the standard an agent inspects against.
With the right experience and kit you can add office and commercial cleaning in Brisbane, and with your own extraction machine, carpet cleaning. You choose these during onboarding.

Pay
What you earn in Brisbane
The starting base rate in Brisbane is $45 an hour, the same as in every city we work in.
You're paid for the cleaning time allocated to each job at your rate, so a job allocated three hours pays $135 at the starting rate. Rates rise with your tier as you build a track record, up to $48 an hour. Same-day jobs carry a $20 bonus, and long drives earn a drive bonus.
Pay goes to your Australian bank account in a weekly pay run, and the app shows your earnings and payouts as you go. As a contractor you cover your own kit, products, travel, tax and insurance from what you earn. How much cleaners get paid compares this with award wages and running your own clients.
Simply Maid pays contractors per job using the time allocated and their agreed rate. Check the actual offer, your commitments and your costs; the illustration does not calculate earnings or tax.

Requirements
What you need
At least a year of cleaning experience, an ABN, photo ID, your own kit, a reliable car and a smartphone.
- Experience. At least a year of cleaning homes professionally, for your own clients or an agency. Solo cleaners, teams and cleaning businesses are all welcome.
- An ABN. You work as an independent contractor; a cleaning company applies with its company ABN.
- Photo ID. You verify your identity online with government photo ID and a selfie.
- Your own kit. A vacuum, mop, cloths and cleaning products. See equipment and supplies.
- A reliable car. Jobs are spread across Brisbane and you carry your kit, so the application asks for one.
- A smartphone. Jobs, checklists and pay are all in the app.

How much does a cleaner get paid in Brisbane?
With Simply Maid, the starting base rate in Brisbane is $45 an hour as an independent contractor, paid weekly on the cleaning time allocated to each job. Employed cleaners are paid at least the Cleaning Services Award minimum; our pay guide compares the two.
Do I need experience?

Do I need an ABN?
Yes. You work as an independent contractor, so you need an ABN. A cleaning company applies with its company ABN.
Is there enough work?
It depends on bookings near you, the hours you set and how far you'll travel. There aren't enough bookings in Brisbane yet for us to publish a figure, so we can't promise a set number of jobs. We never guarantee hours.
Can my partner or team join?
Yes. You can apply as a solo cleaner, a team or a cleaning company, and invite members during onboarding. Each member completes their own checks.
How do I get paid?
Weekly, by bank transfer to your Australian bank account: each pay week runs Monday to Sunday and is paid the following Thursday. You can see your earnings and payouts in the app. It's never cash in hand.
